The Bikini Murders | Bikini Killer

For quite some time now, there have been talks on making a biopic on the “Bikini Killer”. Finally producer Arun Rangachari has managed to acquire the rights of author Farrukh Dhondy's book titled The Bikini Murders which is based on Charles Sobraj's life. Charles Sobhraj, is a serial killer of Indian and Vietnamese origin, who preyed on Western tourists throughout Southeast Asia during the 1970s. Nicknamed "the Bikini Killer" and "the Serpent," due to his skill at deception and evasion, Sobhraj allegedly committed at least 12 murders. He was convicted and jailed in India from 1976 to 1997.
While Sobhraj is widely believed to be a psychopath, his motives for killing differed from those of most serial killers. Sobhraj was not driven to murder by deep-seated violent impulses, but as a means to sustain his adventurous lifestyle. The book written by Farrukh presents an inside account of what is described as Sobhraj's crimes and his fascinating modus operandi. Let’s hope the film rightfully depicts Sobhraj’s hideous crimes and the underlying horror. Rumours has it that Randeep Hooda may play the leading role. Let’s wait and watch.
